A safer bet . . . look after your mates: Youth forum on responsible gambling
We're on the look out for senior high school students to participate in our upcoming forum on responsible gambling, during Responsible Gambling Awareness Week (RGAW).
International experts have emphasised the need for parents, teachers and the community to educate young people about the risks associated with gambling so they can make informed and responsible decisions should they choose to gamble when they are of legal age.

It Starts With Small Change
When: Tuesday 15 May, 10am and Tuesday 29 May, 10am
What: This theatre project will engage students from St Patrick's College in a stimulating activity that explores issues around gambling through drama, and provides participants the opportunity to determine new outcomes to gambling scenarios.

University of Ballarat - Forum for Young Tradespeople

What: This forum will include a research overview on gambling and youth, and a presentation on the impacts of gambling.

Launch of Student Artwork Display “Make a Mark on Life!”
When: Tuesday 15 May, 5.30pm
What: Launch of a week long display of student artwork recently produced by Year 9 students as part of a health promotion project aimed at preventing problem gambling. It also explores the risk and protective factors including education and social connection.

Aboriginal Family Fun Day

What: Come and have fun, have a break, relax and celebrate a day out socialising with friends and family. Gambler's Help Northern will host an event aimed at promoting key the messages of responsible gambling awareness week as well as supporting aboriginal communities to engage in alternative recreation and enhance social connectedness.

Act Belong Commit Resource Kit Launch
When: Wednesday 16 May, 11am-12pm
What: An event to launch the three targeted CALD Act Belong Commit Resource Kits. The Kits will be distributed throughout the community and gambling areas in Springvale and Clayton. There will be presentations from key Responsible Gambling organisations.

Don't let Gambling Take Over Awards Ceremony
When: Monday 14 May, 5.30pm
What: The Hume Council, in partnership with the City of Yarra, the North East, Hume-Whittlesea and Inner North West Primary Care Partnerships, and the Multicultural Gamblers Help Service, ran an initiative encouraging young people to tell their stories with the theme Don’t Let Gambling Take Over. Entrants aged 15-25 shared their stories in several languages in written form or through visual and audio media. An awards ceremony will be held for them on Monday 14 May, 5.30pm at Fitzroy Town Hall.
Geelong
RSN Broadcast and breakfast at Geelong Race Club
When: Friday 11 May, 5.30am-8.30am. Sit down hot breakfast from 6.45am-8.30am.
What: The RSN breakfast team of Michael Christian and Mick McGuane host a special broadcast of their show from the Geelong Race Club to promote RGAW and local responsible gambling initiatives in Geelong. A special complimentary breakfast will be held at the race club.
